With another disappointing season almost over for Liverpool they have already started their search for players to strengthen their side for next season. Despite reaching the FA cup final the recent home defeat to West Brom is just the latest poor result in what has been a frustrating season for Liverpool fans.
According to GOAL.com Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on twenty-one year old attacker Luuk de Jong. The FC Twente youngster has scored an impressive thirty times in all competitions this year including twenty-three times in just thirty appearances in the Eredivisie.
Liverpool haven’t exactly been a free scoring machine this season and an attacker could be the first signing in re-bolstering the sides attacking unit. With Dirk Kuyt poised for a move to Hamburg, Kenny Dalglish might see de Jong as a player capable of fulfilling the role of tireless workhorse around the pitch.
Liverpool can expect stiff competition in the quest to sign de Jong with the players agent claiming fifteen other clubs are also interested in the player. Reports suggest that de Jong could be available for around £12million a very reasonable price if he can offer the same goal return he has for Steve McClaren’s FC Twente this season.
