New York to start home grown talent against Sligo

Updated: May 3, 2012

The New York team due to face Sligo this weekend in the Connacht Senior Football Championship opener will feature a number of American-born players.

Included in the line up are CJ Molloy, brothers Shane and Conor Hogan, and American footballer Donnacha O’Dwyer. CJ, Conor and Donnacha were all part of the New York Colleges team that won the Division 2 Shield tournament earlier this year in Manchester, UK.

The team is captained by Tyrone native Ronan McGinley, who was part of the Tyrone Division 1 League winning team of 2010. McGinley also manages the Fermanagh Senior Ladies Team.

In contrast, the Sligo squad may feature as many as twelve players from the 2007 panel, which now consists of two All Stars, Eamon O’Hara and Charlie Harrison.

Sligo will also look to Adrian Marren for scores, who hit a hat trick for the county against Wexford in Markievicz Park during the Allianz league campaign.
