Many of Manchester United’s Premier Reserve League North winning team will be loaned out next season in a bid to give them experience, according to Sir Alex Ferguson today.
The United youngsters won the reserve league title by 13 points, with teenage striker Will Keane finishing as top scorer with 15 goals.
Keane, along with other potential future United stars such as Paul Pogba, Ravel Morrison, Michael Keane and Zeki Fryers, will be sent out on loan to other Premier League teams or possibly to the Football League, in a bid to get them playing at a higher competitive level.
“There will be a few [going out on loan],” said Ferguson, speaking to Inside United.
“Some of them will definitely go out again next season: potentially the two Keane brothers, Tom Thorpe, [reserve team captain] Davide Petrucci, Zeki Fryers and Matty James, who was out for a year-and-a-half through injury but is back now and playing well for the reserves. Marnick Vermijl will probably stay here for another year yet.
“We have some terrific young players here: Lingard, Cole, the two Keanes, Petrucci, Fryers, Vermijl, [Ryan] Tunnicliffe, Thorpe. Of the team who won the Youth Cup last year, seven have been in the first team at different points this season: Pogba, Morrison, Fryers, Cole, Lingard and the Keanes.”
