Galway hurling received a major boost this week with the news that Joe Canning is expected back in training within the next two weeks.
Manager John McIntyre has confirmed that the star forward, who has missed the county’s four Allianz National League games to date is on the verge of returning to action. Despite a disappointing loss against Cork, the tribesmen have had a solid league campaign without their ace marksman and have beaten Wexford, Offaly and Kilkenny in recent weeks.
“We think Joe will be back in the next couple of weeks but we’ll be guided by medical opinion on it,” said McIntyre.
“Joe is anxious to come back, but the break he is getting now may suit him further down the road. Joe probably wouldn’t agree with that because he’d play three games in a day if he could. He’s been doing plenty of gym work and has kept up his fitness over the last six weeks. But the break is coming at a good time for him”.
