Preview & live score commentary from Leinster Minor Hurling Championship, Laois v Kilkenny in Tullamore, Saturday, 7pm
Laois will be looking to build on their victory over Westmeath in the last round of fixtures as they take on Kilkenny this Saturday evening in Tullamore.
The O’Moore County are without both MJ Dunphy and Joe Campion through injury for several weeks but confidence is still running high amongst the team.
Laois produced a gutsy display to see off their neighbours in their last game and manager Seamus Plunkett is not worried that the exertions of that day will be a factor against the Cats.
“We are up against Kilkenny and we are really looking forward to that game, and challenging ourselves against one of the hurling strongholds,” said Plunkett.
“I know it’s an old cliché we are just taking it one game at a time. We have picked up a few injuries in the last week, mainly to MJ Dunphy and Joe Campion, which might sideline them for a few weeks.”
Kilkenny will have their usual considerable firepower at the ready for their first game of the Championship, with an exciting full-forward line of Kevin Kenny, Eoin Bergin and Shane Donolly all champing at the bit to get going.
Michael Donnelly and Kevin Walsh provide the midfield dynamism while both Chris Bolger and James Meagher will be encouraged to get forward from half-back.
Laois are coming into this game off the back of a win but make no mistake, Adrian Ronan’s men will be ready and there could be more Cats magic this summer,
