Mayo vs Down Christy Ring Hurling preview & live score updates, Elverys McHale Park, Saturday, 2.30pm

Mayo look forward to their opening Christy Ring Cup match against down with all of their major influential players available for selection.
Keith Higgins (Ballyhaunis) will captain the side from the centre of the park and will be joined by Paul O’Grady (Ballina James Stephens) as they look to take a grip on the midfield battles.
The Yew County will also have three Tooreen goal threats in the starting 15 as Cathal Freeman, Kenny Feeney and Ciaran Charlton will have been given their instructions to shoot on sight of goal.
Down have endured a nightmare Allianz National Hurling League campaign as the team slumped to the fourth tier losing Wicklow in Trim in April.
The Ardsmen have been decimated by injury and emigration and have not been helped by the decision to play home games in Newry and not in the hurling hotbed of the Ards.
Down have no fresh injury worries ahead of the game but the team morale is not good and Ger Monan’s side will have a serious motivational challenge ahead of him to pick his team back up for this competition.
