Waterford hurler Padraic Mahoney could miss all of Waterford’s championship campaign after undergoing a groin operation over the weekend. Mahoney had been struggling all through the league this year with his groin and was left with no choice but to receive surgery.
It is expected that the Ballygunner man will need four months to recover from the injury which will mean that Waterford will be without their top scorer from the 2011 championship.
Mahoney made his debut against Limerick last year and scored thirteen points in Waterford’s defeat to Tipperary in the 2011 Munster final. He received an All-Star nomination and was also shortlisted for young hurler of the year for 2011.
Waterford will play Clare in Semple Stadium on the 17th of June in the Munster semi-final.
