Former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri reportedly met with West Bromwich Albion’s sporting and technical director, Dan Ashworth last week. According to the Birmingham Mail the pair met near Birmingham airport for preliminary talks.
The sixty year old Italian has managed eleven different teams and has had plenty of success along the way, his most recent being winning the UEFA Super Cup in 2004 with Valencia, during his second spell with the club.
Ranieri’s only role in management in England was with Chelsea and may have felt slightly hard done by to suffer the chop from billionaire owner Roman Abramovic. However this latest link could see Ranieri return to England to replace Roy Hodgson.
West Brom are obviously looking for an experienced manager to take them forward and one with a wealth of experience. Ranieri’s experience at the top level of three of the best leagues in the world make him a very strong candidate and could make him a prized asset for the midlands based club.
