The GAA will hostits first ever series of national ‘Open Nights’ across the country over the next two days as part of the promotional and marketing plan accompanying the 2012 championships.
County teams all over the country will take part in a co-ordinated programme of events and will throw open their doors to local journalists and supporters.
The events, which are predominantly taking place on Friday the 11th of May, will be family orientated with Beat the Goalkeepers’ competitions taking place in Armagh and Tipperary, crossbar challenges in Dublin, coaching sessions in Kildare and Carlow and tours of the redeveloped McHale Park in Castlebar have also been organised. GAA President Liam Ó Néill confirmed it was just one initiative the organisation is launching to mark the start of the Championships, which have already begun in Connacht. The rest of the provinces will have commenced their 2012 campaigns by the end of May.
