Down face Meath this Saturday in the second round of games in the Christy Ring Cup with both teams coming off the back of victories against Mayo and London respectively.

Down earned their victory over the Yew County last week as they look to bounce back from a calamitous League campaign that saw them suffer relegation into Division 2B next season.

Down player Conor Woods believes the victory has allowed his side to believe again but is not taking Meath for granted.

“Meath are a big, strong, physical team,” said Woods.

“They have a few key players. It is going to take a step up. They are a similar side to Mayo.”
Meath are set to ring the changes for their trip to Newry as they look to build on their defeat of London The big change is at centre-back with Damien Healy replacing Paul Fagan while there is a starting berth for last week’s match winning hero, Peter Durnin at corner-forward.
