Another fine win this morning for Cavan BC’s Ceire Rose Smith at the 7th AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships (and only female Olympic qualifier) in China.

In the 48-51 kg Olympic flyweight division the 20 years old Smith had a convincing 12-4 win over Jamaica’s Sarah-Joy Rae winning every round.

Two up from the end of round one, she continued to press and ended the second with a 5-1 lead. Thereafter she was never in trouble. She ended the round 5-1 ahead and was in no danger from then on. She simply steered clear of any trouble and so is through to the last 16.
