Electrical fault caused Williams F1 garage fire

Here is a video of the fire in the Williams garage which took place shortly after the team had won the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya.

An electrical fault with a fuel rig caused the the fire that quickly engulfed the entire Williams garage.

It took close to half an hour to bring the fire under control, after which nine people received treatment – four from Williams, a further four from Caterham, and one from Force India.

All were taken to the track’s medical centre, the majority for minor injuries or smoke inhalation. Three Williams team members were airlifted to a local hospital, one believed to have been suffering from burns.

Pastor Maldonado won a first Grand Prix in eight years for a Williams team who have won seven drivers and nine constructors world championships, the last of which coming back in 1997.
