John Meyler has quit as Kerry’s senior inter county hurling manager.
The Cork man resigned after an early exit from the Chritsy Ring Cup following a disappointing league campaign.
The Kingdom were widely tipped to challenge for promotion to Division 1B but the season did not live up to expectation as they struggled to produce the results required to challenge for the Division 2A title.
Saturday’s loss to Kildare proved to be the final straw and he stepped shortly afterwards.
“What I wanted and what I got is not enough for me,” Meyler said on bringing his three year reign to a close.
“I felt we were very flat. That’s our eighth away Christy Ring Cup game in 10 that I have been involved in. So it’s too long and too hard and that’s not making excuses. Perhaps the hunger was not there. I don’t know.”
