League of Ireland Round up & Results

Sligo Rovers moved 8 points clear at the top of the Airtricity league of Ireland with a straight forward 3-0 win over Shelbourne at the Showgrounds.

In form Danny North bagged two more goals in four minutes either side of the half time whistle to put Sligo in control before Pascal Millien bagged his first goal for the club with six minutes left.

Second place St Patrick’s Athletic missed the chance to keep pace with Ian Baraclough’s side as they let slip a 3-2 lead in injury time. Alan Buckley side has come from 2-1 down to lead 3-2 heading into injury time only for veteran striker Jason Byrne to snatch a point for Bray.

Shamrock Rovers put their recent stuttering form behind them to move level on points with St Pats as they beat Drogheda United 3-1 in Tallaght while Cork City scored two late goals to beat UCD 4-2 at Turners Cross.

The battle of the bottom two saw Monaghan come out on top as they bounced back from conceding in the opening minute away to Dundalk to record a 2-1 win and move to within a point of the Louth side while Aaron Callaghan’s Bohs side lost at home to Derry City, who move to within a point of fourth place Drogs.
