Giovanni Trapattoni has been handed a fresh injury headache after veteran goalkeeper Shay Given hurt his knee in training yesterday. The Aston Villa man who has been capped 121 times by his country was sent for scans yesterday.
So far the results suggest that Given should just sit out of training for two or three days simply as a precaution. Ireland face Bosnia on Saturday afternoon in a friendly as a warm up to the European championships. It is yet to be confirmed if Shay Given will appear. Along with Sunderland defender John O’Shea who has been battling an ankle injury.
The Ireland squad head to their training camp in Italy the day after the Bosnia game and Giovanni Trapattoni is still confident all of his players will be fit for the start of the European championship in Poland.
