Tottenham Hotpsurs defender Ryan Nelsen look set to end his stay in English football with a return to his former club, DC United.

According to TalkSPORT, the New Zealand International, who only joined Spurs in January following an impressive spell with Blackburn, is not part of Harry Redknapp’s long term plan and is free to move on.

Redknapp is planning an overhaul of his Spurs squad during the close season with Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen expected to be the first of a number of new signings for the Londoners.

The arrival of the Belgian would push the 34 year old Nelsen out of the White Hart Lane doors with a move back to the MLS the most likely outcome.

Nelsen, who played for New Zealand in the 2010 World cup made his name in the States with DC United before moving to Ewood Park in 2005.
