Four Debutants for Wexford hurlers

Liam Dunne has handed championship debuts to Stephen Murphy, Willie Devereux, Shaun Murphy and Jack Guiney. Wexford play Offaly in the Leinster SHC quarter-final this Saturday at O’Connor Park.

Stephen Murphy who makes his debut on Saturday is a former under-21 Tipperary hurler and is also a former senior footballer. He was full-back on the Tipperary under-21 team in 2007 and played senior hurling for his club Kilruane McDonaghs.

He came on as a sub in Tipperary’s win over Wexford in the Tommy Murphy Cup in 2005. He is now playing with St Martins and is teaching in St Peters College in Wexford Town.

Wexford have named an experienced substitutes bench which includes Darren Stamp, Paul Roche, Richie Kehoe and Stephen Banville.
