Villa bound Paul Lambert could return to his old club Norwich to sign want away striker Grant Holt.
Norwich already have a fight on their hands keeping rising star Lambert however they could face another one should Villa succeed with their attempts to appoint the 42 year old as manager.
The Midlander’s are close to agreeing a compensation deal with the Canaries and is set to sign a three year deal at Villa Park.
Once the ink has dried on the deal, the former Scottish midfielder will then set his sights on rebuilding Villa and according to the Mirror, Holt is one of his top targets.
The 31 year old was the second top English goal scorer in the Premier League after Wayne Rooney, with 17 goals and has two years remaining on his deal.
However the former Nottingham Forest striker is looking to move on from Carrow Road and recently had a transfer request rejected by the club.
While Norwich would be reluctant to sell it is believed that a bid of £3 million could tempt them to part with the player.
