Longford v Wexford: Live score commentary updates

Updated: June 3, 2012

We have live score commentary updates from Longford v Wexford in the Leinster Senior Football Championship Quarter Final, Croke Park, throw in 2pm.

Both these teams know each other very well this term. They faced each other in a meaningless league encounter when both Longford and Wexford had already qualified before meeting again in the Division 3 final. Longford won both games but the manner of the Wexford second-half fightback in that final will give them heart.
Longford’s epic first round win over Laois has only increased confidence in Glenn Ryan’s men and remain the only undefeated county in 2012. With Michael Quinn back from his Aussie Rules adventure, their defence looks rock solid and with Sean McCormack, Paul Barden and Brian Kavanagh scoring for fun, the improvement should continue.
Jason Ryan’s men showed huge heart and determination to mount a spirited comeback against Sunday’s opponents in the league final and, despite defeat, will be confident to reverse placings at headquarters. They have the big match temperament to get them over the line and have slightly the better team but they may not be able to keep Longford from increasing their unbeaten streak.

Longford – D Sheridan; D Brady, B Gilleran, D Reilly; C Smith, M Quinn, S Mulligan; B McElvanney, J Keegan; D Barden, P Barden, N Mulligan; D McElligott, B Kavanagh, S McCormack.
