Dublin’s All Ireland winning football captain Brian Cullen is an injury doubt for the Metropolitans’ Leinster SFC opener with either Wexford or Longford on 1st July.
The 28 year-old suffered a facial injury during Dublin’s 16 point hammering of Laois over the weekend and had to leave the pitch at half-time.
“There are concerns that there might have been something wrong with his cheekbone because it was swelling so much. Hopefully it’s alright. He’ll go and get an X-ray on it,” said Dublin manager Pat Gilroy.
Gilroy also stated that All Star midfielder Michael Macauley missed the Laois game after falling from his bicycle last week.
“He crashed on his bike during the week – a push bike – and damaged his midriff,” the 40 year-old explained.
“We thought he was going to be alright, but when we went to push off in training on Saturday he just couldn’t do it so we’ll have to investigate it a bit further.”
