We have live score commentary as Cork play Tipperary in the Munster U21 hurling quarter final.

Cork’s Under-21 Hurling manager Ger Hanrahan is looking forward to tonight’s (Wednesdays) big quarter-final Munster clash with rivals Tipperary in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. He’s anticipating a tough battle tonight as Tipp have a wealth of talent and ‘’they have some fine players to call on,” he told the Irish examiner.

The vibes coming from the Leesiders camp seem positive, Hanrahan claiming that both the ‘’attitude and preparation of the players has been excellent.’’ Some of the Cork squad had been training with Jimmy Barry Murphy’s senior team until May, but have recently returned back to the fold, this undoubtedly helping to ‘’raise spirits,’’ of all involved, continued Hanrahan. Conor Lehane and Jamie Coughlan who are both training with the senior side will lead the Cork attack.

Spare a thought for young Darren Sweetman and Conor Spillane who are both starting their leaving cert today, the former choosing to focus on his studies for the time being, while the latter has made himself available for selection. In total the Cork men have a total of four squad members starting their exams today, with Colm Barry and Kevin Kavanagh among the subs. Hanrahan made it clear that he left the choice whether to participate or not up to the lads, as he realises it’s a ‘’very important time for young people.’’
