The Boston Celtics are only one victory away from the NBA Finals after a thrilling victory over Miami Heat on Tuesday night, to give themselves a 3-2 series lead.
This was a game that Miami, who were defeated in last year’s final were confidently expected to win. Not only did they have home advantage but they also had star player Chris Bosh back from injury for the first time in the series. However with Kevin Garnett contributing 26 points for Boston, the away side held out for a 94-90 victory and they will expect to finish off the job, when the sides meet back in Boston tonight. This has completed a tremendous fightback by the Celtics who looked down and out when the trailed the series 2-0 at the start of the month.
However they won both games 3 and 4 at home to level the tie, but few expected them to travel to Miami and emerge winners. But victorious they were and in this type of form they will be confident of adding to their 17 championship successes, the last of which came in 2008. For Miami who won their one and only title in 2006 when they defeated the Dallas Mavericks – they lost to the same side in last year’s final – it is back to the drawing board. However with the likes of superstar LeBron James in their ranks it may be foolish to discount them yet.
