O’Brien wants pressure put on All Blacks

Updated: June 12, 2012

Sean O’Brien believes that Ireland can cause an upset against the World Cup champions New Zealand when the teams meet for their second test in Christchurch on Saturday morning.

The Leinster man feels that despite the comprehensive nature of the defeat last Saturday, Ireland can still shock New Zealand by registering their first win against the All Blacks ever.

Speaking to RTE’s Morning Ireland show, O’Brien spoke of the belief in the Ireland camp saying “I think I’ve always said it, we need to get a consistency in our play. For a couple of phases last week we played some great stuff, put them under pressure and got a couple of penalties.

“We need to be doing that over a period of time in the game and really go after them instead of them coming after us.

“This team, the longer it spends together, the better it is. We’ve had an extra week together and had a look at the mistakes we made last week and hopefully we can nullify them and put in a good performance.”
