Allianz FL Division 2

Laois 0-11 Tyrone 1-12

Tyrone continued their recent revival in Division Two of the Allianz National Football League with a 4 points win over Laois at Portlaoise on Saturday evening.

The victory brought an end to the home side’s unbeaten record and gave Mickey Harte’s side a chance of surviving in the section. The Red Hands had to withstand a late fightback from the home side before eventually claiming the points on the night.

Tyrone led by 0-4 to 0-1 early on and Colm Cavanagh’s goal increased their advantage to five after a Brian McGuigan pass. By the interval the visitors led by 1-7 to 0-3. However, this was cut to four points after the restar with MJ Tierney to the fore for Laois.

The home side tried hard, hitting the first five points after the break, as Tierney and Ross Munnelly got on top of their opponents. However, they were unable to cut the goal back at any stage and Sean Cavanagh hit a late score to seal the victory for the visitors.
