Derry 2-12 Donegal 2-18

Donegal lead the way in Division Two of the Allianz National Football League after a 2-18 to 2-12 victory over Derry in Celtic Park on Saturday evening.

The visitors, led by the excellent Michael Murphy, were the better team in the opening 35 minutes and went in at the break with a 2 point advantage, 1-11 top 1-9.

Enda Muldoon scored the Derry goal after just three minutes of the game, but Colm McFadden hit back with a similar score for the visitors just before the break. It was enough to see his side go in with a two point lead.

Midway through the second period, Derry were level(2-10 to 1-13) when O’Boyle scored from the penalty spot after Conleith Gilligan had been fouled. The momentum was with the home side at that point but Dermot Molloy put the visitors back in front soon after.

Michael Murphy scored the winning goal with ten minutes let on the clock to give the Donegal men the precious points. They now lead this division and should be in a strong position to at least make the playoff stages.
