With Harry Redknapp no longer manager and with Spurs not playing in the Champions League next season, Real Madrid are the latest club to be reportedly chasing the Croat, following on the heels from interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.
Real Madrid boss, Jose Mourinho, has been a long-time admirer of Modric and Bilic believes that Modric wants to quit the Premier League and join the Spanish champions.
“I’m very good friends with (Luka) Modric,” said the Sporting Gijon striker.
“He wants to play in the Spanish league. He loves the Premier League but he wants to play in Spain. He’s very close to agreeing a move”.
Former Croatian striker, Davor Suker, has backed up these claims by insisting that Modric is just the type of player that would fit nicely into the Blancos starting line-up.
“Luka Modric is a player who could play for Real Madrid. He needs to be playing for a team that will win trophies. He’d be perfect for them”, said Suker.
“I would recommend that [Real Madrid president] Florentino Perez signs him. If he doesn’t sign for Real Madrid, he’ll end up at Manchester City or Chelsea. He has to leave Tottenham to win trophies.”
