Always held in high regard by his connections, Most Improved came to Ascot with something to prove having suffered an interrupted passage in the French Derby a number of weeks ago.

Sent off a 9/1 Fallon managed to guide Most Improved from his wide draw to sit just off a searing pace set by the Aidan O’Brien trained Wrote.

Swinging into the straight the race changed dramatically when The Nile suffered a fatal injury and interfered with a number of horses including the favourite Power who was knocked sideways as The Nile fell back.

Up front Fallon and Most Improved went clear and put daylight between themselves and the rest of the field. The French challenger Hermival came fast and late but had to settle for second with Gregorian back in third with Born To Sea back in fourth.
