Wimbledon seeds announced

The Wimbledon seedings have been announced today with the top five in the men’s list mirroring the current world rankings.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic is the top seed followed by former winners Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, with Andy Murray seeded fourth and Jo-Wilifred Tsonga fifth.

Former Wimbledon runner-up Tomas Berdych is the sixth seed, whilst three-time finalist Andy Roddick is seeded 30th.

In the women’s draw, former champion Maria Sharapova heads the seeding’s after becoming world number one, replacing Victoria Azarenka, following her victory at the French Open last month. Azarenka is the second seed, followed by Agnieszka Radwanska and defending champion Petra Kvitova, who beat Sharapova in the final last year, seeded fourth.

US Open champion Sam Stosur is fifth, one place ahead of four-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams, while last year’s top seed Caroline Wozniacki is seventh this time.

Venus Williams is currently placed 55th in the world rankings and is not amongst the seeding’s as she bids for a sixth title, while four-time Grand Slam winner Kim Clijsters is also unseeded for the first time since 2000.
