The GAA stated that they were ’disappointed’ with the national broadcaster for singling out an amateur the way that they did. The contact was not made my Clare County Board.
In the segment, Fitzgerald was picked up shouting out to a Waterford player that he had “two All-Ireland medals and you have f**k all.”
The panel on the show that night passed off the Fitzgerald outburst as something that happens in the heat of the moment, but the GAA are not happy with the way the matter was presented.
The GAA have discussed the matter privately with officials at RTÉ. Gaelic games governing body discuss matters with their broadcasting partners at regular intervals.
