Tiger Woods has said he ”expects to play” at next month’s US Masters.
The 14-time major winner and perennial Masters’ favourite had to pull out of the Cadillac Championship in Doral over the weekend after his tee shot on the 12th. Woods posted on Twitter that he was expecting to be hitting balls again by the end of the week and playing again by next week.
Woods has played in every Masters tournament since 1995 and says he hopes to play the Arnold Palmer invitational before teeing it up at Augusta.
Woods said that his left achilles tendon, which caused him to miss two of last year’s majors was feeling “tight” but that it was “nothing serious.” Woods missed three months of last season with that aforementioned achilles injury.
Woods elaborated on the injury by stating: “In the past I might have tried to keep on playing when I felt my achilles, but, this time I decided to do what was right.”
Woods famously won the 2008 US Open (the last of his major titles) whilst carrying a broken leg.
