Dempsey steps down at Carlow

Luke Dempsey has stepped down from his role as Carlow manager following his side’s loss to Laois in the football qualifiers.

Dempsey has been at the helm in Carlow for the last four years and made a bright start to the Championship season when they managed to draw with Meath.

However they lost the replay by the a 15 point margin and followed up that morale sapping defeat with a 1-10 to 0-09 loss to Laois in the first round of the qualifier’s today.

After the game, Dempsey confirmed to the RTE that he was stepping down from his role.

Dempsey has previously managed Westmeath, with whom he won All Ireland minor and U21 trophies, and Longford.
