London Welsh win appeal against RFU

London Welsh have won their appeal against the Rugby Football Union and will play in the Aviva Premiership next season.

London Welsh claimed the Championship crown but were originally denied the right to go up after Rugby Football Union blocked their promotion on the basis that they had failed to meet the minimum standards required of a Premiership club.

An independent panel found in favour of the club after they had argued the primacy of tenure rule breached UK and European competition law and was therefore void and unenforceable.
