Armagh 1-09 1-13 Kerry, Athletic Grounds

Kerry won their third game of the season in Division One of the Allianz National Football League with a four point victory over Armagh at the Athletic Grounds oj Sunday.

The visitors have now won three of their five outings and after unlucky defeats against both Cork and Dublin, they are beginning to get their season up and running. Declan O’Sullivan and Paul Galvin also made substitute appearances at the weekend and should be available for the kingdoms next round.

Kieran Donaghy led the way for the winners and was in excellent form up front. He was involved in everything good that Kerry did and was ably assisted by the excellent Colm Cooper. Armagh led early and looked like causing a shock when a goal from Kieran Toner gave them a 1-4 to 0-3 lead.

Kerry then stepped up a gear and sent over four successive points to level the game at the break, 1-4 to 0-7. Bryan Sheehan (two) and Colm Cooper both finding the range from frees.

Sheehan gave Kerry the lead just after the restart and as both Galvin and O’Sullivan returned to the lineup the visitors looked much more like the kingdom of old. Kieran O’Leary pointed to put the Munster side further ahead before Darran O’Sullivan scored the goal that wrapped up the win for Kerry. McDonnell continued to battle hard and added late points for Armagh but it was not enough.
