Sligo ease relegation worries

Sligo emerged from Casement Park in Belfast with the vital points from this crunch relegation tie between the Yeats county and Antrim.

The Saffrons are almost certain to be relegated as a result of this defeat and will find it very difficult to get their league campaign back on track after this home defeat.

With Eamonn O’Hara showing his class, Sligo got off to a flying start and led 1-2 to 0-0 after just ten minutes. Paddy Cunningham tried hard for the hosts but was fighting a losing battle up front. Sligo pulled out further scores and led at the break. by double scores, 1-9 to 0-6.

Sligo scored their second goal of the game shortly after the restart. Brian Curren found the net and the visitors were 10 points clear. Antrim never gave up and fought to the finish but the damage had already been done and Sligo picked up the crucial victory.
