Updated: July 4, 2012

As the curtain looks set to come down on the European career of So You Think, Ballydoyle jockey Colm O’Donoghue has admitted that the 10 time Group 1 winner will be a ‘huge loss’ when he does retire to stud.

The Group 1 Coral Eclipse Stakes at Sandown this weekend, a race that So You Think won twelve months ago, is set to be his last race before he retires to Coolmore’s Hunter Valley base in Australia and O’Donoghue speaking at Gowran Park on Tuesday night said of So You Think.

“He’ll be a huge loss but we’ve been delighted to have him. He came with a big reputation but came after a long, hard year. He’s done great for us. Hopefully he’ll run a big race on Saturday,”

Duncan Ramage, racing manager to part-owner Dato Tan Chin has all but confirmed that So You Think will head back to Australia after Saturday’s race saying.

“All good things come to an end and this just means a new chapter in his life. He can’t keep going for ever. During his time with Coolmore he has enjoyed the best of care, the best facilities, and the best of time.”
