Injury has denied So You Think the chance for back to back Eclipse victories.
The Australian star was found to be lame in his box this morning at Ballydoyle and will miss his intended European swansong. The Aidan O’Brien trained horse had been as short as 10-11 favourite to win his sixth northern hemisphere Group One in the 10 furlong contest on Saturday.
The news was broken on the Ballydoyle twitter account earlier this morning. “So You Think was found to be lame in his stable a short time ago and will not run in the Eclipse on Saturday,” read the tweet.
So You Think had been due to enter quarantine after running at Sandown on Saturday in preparation for his return to Australia to take up stud duties at Coolmore’s Hunter Valley farm. Plans for the son of High Chaparral are unclear.
A final field of ten has been declared for Saturday’s race, with Godolphin’s Farhh, third behind So You Think in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot expected to take over at the head of the betting. Farhh will be joined in the race by fellow Godolphin inmate and Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso. Last year’s King George winner Nathaniel will make his seasonal reappearance in the Eclipse. The Dante winner Bonfire will attempt to get his season back on track after failing to handle the course at Epsom in the Derby. Twice Over, Cityscape, Cogito, Sri Putra, Crackerjack King and City Style are the others in the mix.
