Former Chelsea forward Saloman Kalou has signed for agreed a deal to join French side Lille.
The 26 year old joined Chelsea from Dutch side Feyenoord in 2006 and started the Champions League success against Bayern Munich in May.
However the club opted not to renew his contract leaving Kalou free to join another club. The signing of Kalou, who has agreed a four year deal, will help Lille overcome the loss of Joe Cole, who has returned to Liverpool, and Eden Hazard, who made a move i the opposite direction to Stamford Bridge.
A statement on the French club’s official website confirmed the move, “Lille confirm the signing of Salomon Kalou, who passed a medical this morning after arriving at the club last night,”
“Agreed in principle at the end of June, the European champion has signed a four-year contract until June 2016.”
The player, who has been linked with Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs revealed his delighted at moving to Ligue 1, telling the club’s site, “Lille’s project, notably with the impending new stadium, is ambitious and really pleased me. Given what I already knew about the club, there is nothing more you could ask from Europe’s biggest clubs.
“I am excited about coming here and look forward to meeting the warmest of fans.”
