Chelsea told to up their offer for Lewandowski

Updated: July 23, 2012

Chelsea have been told by Borussia Dortmund that they must improve their initial bid for Polish international striker, Robert Lewandowski.

The European Champions are thought to have tabled a £13 million initial fee rising to £17 million based on appearances and performances.

The Polish international was impressive during Poland’s Euro 2012 campaign and Chelsea are thought to view him as a less expensive alternative to Napoli frontman Edinson Cavani who is available for the princely sum of £35 million.

Lewandowski, 23, has two years to run on his current contract and his representative has stated that, “A £13m transfer fee is not suitable.” Dortmund have told Chelsea to double their current bid if they want the forward to start next season at Stamford Bridge.
