Irish Olympic 2012 profile: Daniel Martin – Cycling – Men’s Road Race

An Olympic debutant, Birmingham born Dan comes from a distinguished cycling family. He is the son of British Olympian Neil Martin, nephew to Stephen Roche and cousin to team-mate Nicolas.

The former Tour of Poland winner turned pro in 2008 winning the Route du Sud and the Irish National Road Race.

To date, the 25-year-old has won several impressive stages on the Grand Tour and much like many other cyclists will view the Olympics as less strenuous than the ruthless Tour de France which he competed in for the first time recently.
