Irish Olympic 2012 profile: Sycerika McMahon – Swimming – Women’s 100 metres Breaststroke

At only 17 years of age Sycerika has already become the youngest Irish person to win a medal at a major event, breaking the Irish 50 meter Breaststroke record in the process, as she secured a silver medal at the European Championships in Debrecen last May.

This great prospect from Portaferry, Co. Down has won medals at the European Junior and European Youth Olympics and competed in major events including the Commonwealth Games.

The prodigious and naturally talented swimmer could exceed all expectations and come home with a medal around her neck. Someone this young, yet so talented, will enter London 2012 with zero fear-factor and a nothing-to -lose attitude.
