Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a permanaent deal for midfielder Steven Pienaar thought to be £4.5 million. Pienaar has been eyeing a return to Goodison Park since his loan deal expired at the end of last season. The 30 year old had already agreed personal terms last week.
This will be the South African midfielder’s third spell with the Toffee’s, he first moved to Everton from Ajax in 2007 before moving to Spurs in 2011 for £2.5 million. After struggling to break into the first team and suffering a series of injuries which reduced him to just 18 appearances in 12 months, Pienaar made a return to Goodison Park on loan in January.
Pienaar went on to score four goals in 14 appearances for Everton including an equaliser in Everton’s dramatic 4-4 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford. He now has 16 goals in 147 appearances over what is now three different spells on Merseyside.
Everton manager David Moyes has bolstered his attacking options after losing Tim Cahill to the New York Red Bulls, with Steven Pienaar joining Steven Naismith who moved to Goodison Park earlier this summer.
