David Henry, who led Dublin to an All-Ireland semi-final in 2010, is due to return to Ireland next week and is expected to step straight back in to Pat Gilroys panel.
The player Henry decided to take a few months off to travel around the world and is set to return from his six-month trip later in the week.
It is understood that Gilroy has already been in contact with Henry, and that he will return to the panel and push for a place towards the end of the league campaign. While it seems unlikely that he will be fit enough to take much part, if the Dubs manage to win their next game, and results go their way in other games, then they may not need to win their final game against Galway.
If that proves to be the case, then Gilroy may use the clash with the tribesmen to give some game time to returning players such as Henry, Paul Griffin and the Kilmacud contingent.
