Team news ahead of Sunday Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield (kick-off 4pm)
Brendan Rodgers will go in search of his first win as Liverpool manager when he welcomes Manchester City to Anfield.
Last week’s surprise 3-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion was followed by a much changed side grabbing a 1-0 win over Hearts midweek in the Europa League and should Rodgers lose this Sunday he would be the first boss at Anfield since Bill Shankly in December 1959 to be pointless after his first two league games.
City meanwhile began the defence of their title with a thrilling 3-2 win over Southampton last Sunday, coming from 2-1 down to snatch victory thanks to goals from Edin Dzeko and Samir Nasri.
Despite their status as England’s richest club at the moment, Roberto Mancini side will be looking for their first win at Anfield since 2003.
Rodgers left Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Martin Skrtel, Jose Enrique and Glen Johnson in Liverpool for the trip to Edinburgh while Andy Carroll missed out due to a hamstring problem.
All Six are expected to return to the side for the clash with the champions while Daniel Agger will miss out following his red card against WBA next season.
Joe Allen and Stewart Downing both came on as substitutes against Hearts however they should both feature at Anfield.
The big news from Manchester is the news that Sergio Aguero will miss out. The Argentine striker will be out for up to a month with a knee injury sustained in the win over Southampton.
Adam Johnson has completed his move to Sunderland while Micah Richards misses out with an ankle injury.
Gareth Barry (abdominal) won’t feature as he eases back into action.
