Three Gold medals and One silver – Ireland’s haul from Finals Night at the Feliks Stamm Memorial Multi Nations event in Warsaw on Friday night.
Cavan’s John Joe Nevin, Joe Ward from Moate and former Kilkenny Minor Hurling star Darren O’Neill, of Paulstown all finished on top of the podium, in the Polish capital.
A silver medal to Clonmel heavyweight Con Sheehan,who lost his final bout against Bahran Muzaffer of Turkey, on a 7 – 11 score line.
Nevin claimed the first Irish gold when he overcame the Olympic Youth Games bronze medallist , Dawid Michelus of Poland in the bantamweight class. Again 11- 7 in this bout.
Kilkenny middleweight O’Neill gained a 10-7 decision over Adem Kibici of Turkey.
AIBA World Youth champion Joe Ward completed a great night for the Irish boxers , with a convincing 10-3 victory over Canar Sayak. Another fine win for young Ward.
17 nations took part in this annual tournament to celebrate the life of Poland’s famous boxer and coach Feliks Stamm.
There were no Irish competitors in the three women’s events.
