Kildare v Sligo, 2.30 Sunday, Newbridge
Sligo travel to Newbridge to play Kildare on Sunday, in a game that they have to win, if they are to be certain of survival in Division Two for another year.
A victory for the Yeats County, will be enough to secure their place in the section, irregardless of other results. They will not need to worry how Antrim or Meath fare in their weekend games, as two points this weekend would keep Kevin Walsh’s side safe. However, they will not find it easy on Sunday, facing a Kildare side that will be like a wounded animal, after a shocking performance against Tyrone last weekend.
Kieran McGeeney heavily criticised his forwards after the defeat to the Red Hands and branded their performance as “pathetic”. Johnny Doyle and co will be eager to put things right at the first possible opportunity and Sligo may well be made to pay for this. It could be a long afternoon for Walsh and his charges if the Lilywhites get off to a flyer here.
One of the more difficult games of the afternoon to call but with home advantage and a point to prove, Kildare may have enough in reserve to defeat their visitors.
