Antrim and Derry face off at Casement Park on Sunday, in Division Two of the Allianz National Football League. In a section that looks set to go right down to the final minutes of the campaign, both sides need the points in this game.

The home side are almost certain to be relegated and really need a huge win over the Oak Leaf men if they are to have any chance of staying up. Their overall scoring difference is much lower than the other sides and only a wide margin win will suffice, unless other results go their way. Meanwhile, Derry are still in with every chance of making the league decider and a win in Sunday’s game would go along way towards helping them achieve this goal.

John Brennan’s side have been hot and cold in this years campaign, mixing the brilliant with the very average. A win in Newbridge earlier in the season looked to have set them on their way, but they were then easily beaten at home to Laois. Now tied on 8 points with the latter and Tyrone, they know that a win this weekend is crucial.

Both these counties need the points for different reasons but at the end of the day, the better football team should win. Derry are given the vote to emerge with the spoils.

Verdict: Derry
