Monaghan welcome Mayo to Inniskeen on Sunday, in the final round of matches in Division One of the Allianz National Football League.

The home side have had a difficult season and are on the brink of relegation going into this game. They will need to win convincingly and hope that results in the other games go their way,if they are to survive. If anything has fallen in their favour, it is the fact that they are playing Mayo in this crucial end of season contest.

The visitors are the one team in this section that have little to play for. James Horan’s men have no chance of making the final but are also clear of the relegation fight. While a win would be welcome, it will not be the be all and end all and gives Horan an opportunity to experiment with his side.

On the form of both counties in 2011, Mayo should have the upper hand in this game. They have had a solid, if unspectacular season and are progressing nicely under their new boss. However, on Sunday, Monaghan may just want the victory that little bit more, and they can take the points.

Verdict: Monaghan
