The 2011 Men’s All-Ireland 40x 20 Senior Doubles final promises to be an exciting affair between reigning champions, Paul Brady and Michael Finnegan and Meath’s Tom Sheridan and Brian Carroll. Brady and Finnegan though met stern opposition from Dublin pairing, Eoin Kennedy and Egin Jensen, especially in the first game which ended 21-16. In the second game, Brady and Finnegan really demonstrated the skills which have made them such fine champions in recent years, winning out 21-8 .

Meantime Meath’s Tom Sheridan and Brian Carroll reached their first 40×20 Senior Doubles Final. The pair -who had won last year’s 60×30 Senior Doubles crown – proved too much of a handful for their Armagh opponents, James Doyle and Charly Shanks. In the first game, Sheridan and Carroll started well winning a hard fought game 21-11, but the Orchard County men could not improve upon their form in the second with Meath winning 21-4 to seal their final place against Brady and Finnegan

Further success for the all-conquering Kerry ladies from Ballyhmacelligott as Maria Daly and Ashley Prendville went through to the All-Ireland 40×20 Senior Doubles Final, with a very convincing 21-4, 21-13 win over Mayo’s Pauline Gallagher and Amy Corrigan. In the second semi-final in this event, Cork’s Aisling O’Keeffe and Catriona Casey, from the Ballydesmond club, forced reigning world champions, Sibeal Gallagher and Fiona Shannon, to a tiebreaker. The Cork stars took the first game 21-20, but eventually lost out on a score line of 21-9, 21-9.
