Team Ireland Equestrian’s show jumping manager Robert Splaine has announced the first Irish team to line out for the 2011 European FEI Nations’ Cup season, at the five-star show at Lummen in Belgium.
The experimental team, which will compete in Belgium on April 29 is, in alphabetical order:
Shane Breen: Warrenstown You 2 (ISH)
Trevor Breen: Adventure de Kannan
Shane Carey: Lancero
Jennifer Crooks: SF Uryadi
Lummen is one of the ‘promotional’ Nations’ Cup series, and is not part of the elite Meydan Nations’ Cup, for which Ireland is already qualified.
Robert Splaine said today: “This is a five-star Nations’ Cup and will be a serious test not far short of Meydan Series competitions.
“I am always conscious of the need to develop new combinations and In keeping with a policy that has stood me in good stead I use developmental Nations’ Cup competitions like Lummen to test new combinations with the hope of strengthening our squad with the Meydan series in mind. This team reflects that effort.”
The 2011 Meydan FEI Nations’ Cup Series begins at La Baule, France on May 13, and will feature the world’s top eight show jumping teams, one of which is Ireland.
