Dublin footballer Eamon Fennell, finally made his debut in the St Vincent’s colours during a senior league game at the weekend.

The midfielder had been waiting over four years to return to club football, having repeatedly had his request for a transfer from O’Toole’s to Vincent’s turned down. The move was finally given the go-ahead by the Dublin County Board earlier this year.

A hip injury kept Fennell out of action since then, and it was only last weekend that he was deemed fit enough to make an appearance for his new club.

Fennell played the full match and scored two points,as his new team enjoyed a 2-15 to 1-14 victory over St Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Rua. The player is still very much part of Pat Gilroy’s plans for Dublin and now that he has returned to club football, he will be a leading contender for a starting place in 2011.
